Quincy Memorials, Inc.
A Quincy Memorial is Your
Guarantee of a Quality Memorial
Why You Should Purchase From Quincy Memorials

Throughout the ages, people have chosen to commemorate the lives of those loved,
revered and respected. The common thread which has bridged civilizations and generations
has been mankind’s desire to remember loved ones by erecting monuments. From pyramids
to Indian burial mounds, public memorials such as Mt. Rushmore to simple private memorials,
the creation of a monument has been the most common form of remembrance. When the time
comes to commemorate the life of someone very special, or perhaps to plan ahead for
yourself, many factors should be considered. You will be purchasing something that, quite
literally, will last forever. The monument you create may very well serve as a source of
historical data for future generations. It is a purchase that should be made unhurriedly, with
great care and consideration.

Expert Craftsmanship, Experience, and Only The Finest Materials

Our Master Stone letterers and design team are multi-generational memorialists who have
learned the exact art of stone carving from their fathers and grandfathers. Although technology
has advanced the industry into a new phase through the use of computers, computer-assisted
design, computer etching, diamond tools, and more, the final result is an exceptional, eternal
monument carved in stone to last for generations to come.

Cemetery Regulations

While Quincy Memorials encourages freedom of choice with regard to size, style, material
and design, the cemetery one chooses can impact your choices. Individual cemeteries
establish their own rules and regulations in respect to monuments and markers. These rules
and regulations may differ substantially cemetery to cemetery. You have a legal right to be
able to see these documents prior to the purchase of a cemetery lot. Before you purchase
your monument, you should know that some cemeteries do not allow upright monuments.
These cemeteries, which are often called memorial parks, allow only lawn level bronze or
granite markers, thus greatly limiting your choices in memorialization. Likewise, some
sections in cemeteries may be dedicated to certain styles: upright, flat, etc.

Many cemeteries charge a wide variety of fees for installation, perpetual care, inspection,
etc. Some of these fees are legitimate business expenses but they may be attempts to steer
consumers away from outside competition. Remember you have the legal right to purchase a
monument/memorial from the source of your choice. Your local monument/memorial retailer
can assist you in understanding the rules and regulations in your local cemeteries.

As you can see, the type, size, and style of monument you want may influence your choice in
cemetery property. The same time and consideration given to choosing a monument should
be given to the choice of a cemetery. Remember, your choice should allow you to
memorialize in the manner you so wish.

Memorialization in Cremation

Memorialization is a permanent record and celebration of a life, and of those who loved that
life. The practice of choosing cremation as an alternative to the traditional funeral and
internment has not changed the public’s desire to remember and honor life. This desire is still
as strong as ever. Even with cremation ashes scattered from the tops of mountains, or in the
sea, the family still needs to memorialize a life that was lived, to show the world of their love.
More and more memorialists are challenged to design functional, unique memorials to
individuals who have been cremated – a monument not necessarily set in a cemetery.
Whether it be a granite bench at a golf course, a sculpture in a park or a rustic boulder by a
river or a lake, unique cremation memorials can fulfill our desire to remember.

Family History

Quincy Memorials Inc. was founded in 1950 by The Ricciardi
Family.  Thirty years later in 1980, the business was purchased by the
Poirier Family (Yves and Donna).  Both grew up in the Granite
Industry in Barre, Vermont and Donna’s father, Lucien Rouleau, and
his father Rudolph were owners of the 2nd largest granite and
memorial manufacturing business in Barre.  Barre still quarries some
of the best and most beautiful granite in the world.  For more than 50
years, Rouleau Granite Co. thrived until the year 2001, where it was
sold due to the unexpected death of Donna’s father, Lucien.  Donna’s
maternal grandfather as well as Yves’ father were both stone cutters
and designers in the granite manufacturing plants as well.
It was inevitable that Donna and Yves would also enter into the
business using the knowledge and passion for granite that they
learned from their family.  Lucien and Mr. Ricciardi, previous owner
and close friend of the family, helped Yves and Donna build Q.M.I. to
what it is today.  Donna and Yves continue to develop the business in
order to provide the best quality product and service to their
customers.
This business began as a family tradition and continues to be a
family passion with the introduction of the next generation of family
members.  Bryan and Jeffrey Poirier, the oldest sons of Yves and
Donna, have grown up in this industry as well and have shown great
interest in the company.  Jeffrey with a degree in Management from
the Isenberg School of Management at UMASS Amherst began
working for Quincy Memorials full-time in 2005.  He continues to
introduce and manage even more valuable expertise in order to
serve Quincy Memorials’ clients even better.  Bryan earned his
degree in Marketing at Bentley College and has been handling the
Cleanings part of the business since 2000.  He started full time for
the family business in late 2007 and is responsible for Marketing
efforts as well as some general office operations.
Quincy Memorials has been active in the South Shore Chamber
of Commerce and Kiwanis Club of Quincy since 1982.  Yves Poirier
was also a past president of Kiwanis in  1988.
